Forme's new 29ers on show

are a relatively new brand on the scene, having started life in 2010. With an initial focus on Cycle-to-Work type bikes, Forme are rapidly building their range to incorporate bikes from £300 up to £5,500, road, cyclocross and 29er mountain bikes.

We saw the latest models at UK distributor Moore-Large's expo earlier this week. The first to catch our eyes was the Winscar 29C (£3499.99). Its frame is constructed from Torayca 800 carbon which has a low resin content to maximise strength and cut weight. The frame features a tapered head tube and BB86 bottom bracket.

For the price tag, the Winscar has an impressive spec, with Stan's ZTR race Gold wheels, a Shimano XTR/XT groupset, FSA SLK carbon cranks and RockShox SID World Cup forks.

The aluminium Winscar 29R has a squared off seat tube at the bottom bracket junction to enable a shorter wheelbase. They have also removed the brace to improve mud clearance and added a 12mm axle at the rear to keep things nice and stiff. RockShox SID World Cup suspension forks, Shimano XT groupset, FSA SLK cranks and a Stan's wheelset are included for £2199.99.

Forme also make a range of more entry level 29ers such as the Alport, which have been constructed with spec as a priority.

This continues on to the road side of their range with the Longcliffe road bikes. Forme decided that more people would benefit from a better wheelset, rather than a more flashy groupset. To enable them to fit Mavic Aksium wheels on a £929.99 bike (Longcliffe 2.0), they used a Microshift shifter within the 105 groupset.
