Bicycle Path Update

The heavy machinery has been waking the neighbors promptly at 7:30 and going overtime in recent days to install the bike path along Côte Ste. Catherine.  Hopefully, this temporary inconvenience will be of long term benefit to everyone traveling this route by whatever method.[img::]http://communities.canada.com/MONTREALGAZETTE/cfs-file.ashx/__key/CommunityServer.Components.UserFiles/00.00.02.32.38/csc_5F00_northbound.jpg[/img]
While I am not a fan of bidirectional paths along one side of the street, Montreal seems hooked on this design and I guess it is better than no bike facilities at all. With the price of asphalt and all other oil-based products on the rise, one wonders how any of this can remain affordably maintained. I am holding on to my
full suspension bike in case the island runs out of money to continue with street repairs. Every commute will be like an off-road race. Yeehaw!
So the traffic light at Côte Ste. Catherine and Villeneuve should be in service by November 18 according to the signs and riders will be sent down Villeneuve where workers are currently striping bike lanes that connect with St. Urbain and beyond.
