Westmount has pulled up the Maisonnneuve bike path dividers between Greene Street and Atwater, allowing 41 parking spots smack-on-top of the path for the winter. This allows parking for shoppers at Westmount Square and Place Alexis Nihon, but forces cyclists to either brave oncoming traffic - and a traffic violation - for a few blocks, or take a detour.
According to a great article in the yesterday, Westmount councillor George Bowser says he'll be bringing up the issue at the next committee meeting. Because, understandably, people are pretty upset about this.
