I'm a first time poster, long time reader.
I want to announce that I am planning the 4th season tour of Drop In TV for New Zealand in March '05. I have been given 8 tickets from San Fransisco to Aukland by Air New Zealand, 60% off of RV's for the tour by Britz, Tourism New Zealand is helping with other costs that may come up of the touristy nature, and I've been speaking with your Master and Commander - Tama for about 6 months.
Right now we're trying to find some budget and riders for the tour and make sure that we don't look like idiots by not being able to find exciting riding in kiwi land. Here's where you come in...
... I need suggestions of really cool places to go to ride, hang out, see, ect. We'll be on tour for 2 - 2 1/2 months so we'll have about 5-6 days to fill a 24 minute episode with killer content. Surfing zones in conjunction with riding zones is appreciated, zones with interesting features like cliff bands, rolling downhill landscapes, interesting street ride areas, etc. Basically; where would you take the best riders in the world to in hopes of them buying you a beer at the end of the day in thanks?
If you've been looking at something for a while but procrastinating about building it. Start building it now, if you build it we will come. That doesn't mean that we like the 30 ft. high skinnies that you'll break a leg if you fall from. Thay are great sometimes but to watch on TV they're boring to the mainstream audience. Think Fun, Flowy, Airtime, Scenic, Sick!
I appreciate your help on this. Here's your chance to put New Zealand on the map for an international riding destination.
Don't bother emailing me personally, let's keep the discussion open on this forum. If you haven't seen Drop In before I think Tama has some copies of season 2 for sale. You can sample an episode or two from pinkbike.com here
