Women DHers Wanted!

Message par TreeSaw » Jeu Mars 01, 2007 11:08 am

Bonjour!

Sorry I haven't posted in a LONG time...I am trying to get better. I wanted to include all of my female friends in the exciting news that I have.

I have been working with Mike at Whiteface Mountain to plan a Women's Downhill Mountain biking clinic for this summer. It is looking good for a DH clinic at Whiteface in July. I don't want to get everyone's hopes us just yet, but it's looking like we will have an excellent instructor (Pro women DHer) and some really great equipment and trails to utilize. DHMike & I are working together to finalize some plans and we'll have the information out ASAP.

Just out of curiousity, a couple of questions:

1. Would riders be interested in a package deal (instruction fee, lift ticket, bike rental, gear rental) that also includes lodging, no lodging or perhaps offer both?

2. How much would you be willing to pay for said package? (Ballpark...we don't want to shock anyone with a fee).

I am SO psyched about this and am eager to get people registered. I have been chatting with our instructor and she sounds AWESOME and is equally as excited to get out to the area and ride and help promote the women's scene in the Northeast!!! YEAH!!!! This clinic is going to ROCK and I hope that some of you are able to attend as well. If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me or e-mail me. My French isn't the best, but I will do the best that I can!

Thanks and I look forward to seeing you all on the trails this summer!!!!

I think my girlfriend might be interested if there are different levels but not if it is only hardcore DH with big jumps and drops. I would guess offering to rent big DH bikes in the package would be something interesting but I also suspect she would prefer to use her all mountain bike because it's an extra small that fits her well. I don't think she would be interested in an all inclusive with accomodation and I don't think she would be much interested either in a multi-day type event. I think she would prefer a one day type either a Saturday or Sunday. This is all speculation on my part but hey, I'm with her for a long time so I guess my speculation is as good as it can get! haha

Good luck with this activity and you have my gratitude as a rider because you guys seem to put a lot of effort lately to develop biking in your region. That's cool and you are not too far from Montreal so I like that. We will definitely try to visit you this summer, last time I went was 3-4 years ago and the weather was not good so I can't say I liked my experience very much.

Cheers.

Women's DH Clinc at Whiteface Mountain with Tara Llanes

Message par TreeSaw » Dim Avr 08, 2007 10:15 pm

Women's only clinic with Tara Llanes @ Whiteface

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

O.k. things are finally set for Friday July 6th and Saturday July 7th for Tara Llanes women's only dh clinics at Whiteface Mountain Downhill Park operated by High Peaks Cyclery.

All information and online registration is set.
www.downhillmike.com for specifics on this event and more or just send me a PM and I will get the details to you.

And to sign up just go to this link on active.com
http://www.active.com/event_detail.cfm?event_id=1434228

In Tara's own words: "My goal is to make this clinic the most fun and informative session you’ve ever had. You will learn everything from setting up your suspension to overcoming your fears of descending, to dealing with obstacles to tips on jumping. I want you to have fun while getting over your fears and gaining more confidence on your bike.

Besides what I’ve already mentioned here are some of the other things that we will be working on.

- descending with confidence body position and balance cornering techniques braking and of course jumping

Any other individual skills that any of you would like to work on. We will fit in as much as possible.

It is important to me that I am able to work with each individual and help with any issues you may be having. The clinic is scheduled for 5 hours, but I if any of you want to stick around afterward I would be happy to ride more and address your concerns or just go for a fun ride. See you there!"

Hello TreeSaw,

Something's not clear to me... Is the clinic one or two days ? Do we have to register only for one of the two days, or is it a 2 days training?

Thanks! 8)
