Alley cat bike races are unsanctioned urban street races where cyclists zip around their city to be the first to find a series of destinations. Shortest distance in the quickest time wins the day.
The on Sunday reported on the "sheer anarchic fun of the race" in an interesting interview with Mike Dee, a 33-year-old bike messenger who organizes the races.
The reported on another side of the alley cats last week, after 29-year-old catering entrepreneur Matthew Manger-Lynch, 29, was hit and killed by an SUV when he ran a red light during the Tour da Chicago.
